ABSTRACT
INTRODUÇÃO: Um grande número de imigrantes sul-americanos se traslada para Barcelona em busca de novas condições de vida. As tensões e decisões complexas que os imigrantes precisam enfrentar influenciam a dinâmica de suas relações significativas. OBJETIVO: Este artigo apresenta uma pesquisa qualitativa sobre os efeitos da imigração na relação conjugal de um casal chileno residente em Barcelona. MÉTODO: A análise do discurso é o método utilizado para a obtenção de resultados. Foram utilizadas as primeiras cinco sessões da terapia de casal. O escopo é indagar como os membros do casal experimentaram o processo migratório individualmente, como os modelos culturais influenciaram na hierarquia interna do casal, delimitar a adaptação de cada cônjuge ao país de acolhida e o papel da rede social no novo contexto. RESULTADOS: Além das categorias que correspondem diretamente ao casal (estilos de comunicação, componentes do amor, vinculação amorosa, projetos básicos, comprometimento, componentes relacionais do casal), variáveis culturais parecem ter influído na mudança da hierarquia interna do casal estudado. O processo migratório e a adaptação ao país de acolhida foram vivenciados de forma diferente por cada um dos membros, tendo repercussões significativas em sua dinâmica relacional,facilitando a mudança de papéis, especialmente o maior poder da mulher. CONCLUSÃO: Os modelos culturais do país de acolhida tiveram um papel importante, já que propiciaram mudanças na dinâmica do casal. A influência da rede social na adaptação ao novo contexto é significativa.(AU)
INTRODUCTION: A great number of South-American immigrants search for new life conditions in Barcelona. Tensions and complex decisions that immigrants need to confront influence the dynamics of their significant relationships. OBJECTIVE: This article presents a qualitative research about the effects of immigration in the marital relationship of a Chilean couple residing in Barcelona. METHODS: Discourse analysis is the method used for the obtainment of results. The first five sessions of couple therapy were used with the scope of questioning how the members of the couple experimented the migratory process individually, how the cultural models influenced the couple's internal hierarchy, delimiting the adaptation of each member of the couple to the new country and the role played by the social network in the new context. RESULTS: In addition to the categories directly corresponding to the couple (communicational style, components of love, love bond, basic projects, commitment, couple relational components), cultural variables seem to have influenced in the change in internal hierarchy of the couple studied. The migratory process and the adaptation to the new country were experienced differently by each of the members, having significant repercussions in their relational dynamics that ease role changes, especially the greater power conquered by the wife. CONCLUSION: Cultural models of the new country had an important role, since they have already enabled changes in the couple's dynamics. The influence of the social network in the adaptation to the new context is significant.(AU).
